Estate Chardonnay 2024

92 points Halliday Wine Companion

Minimum order of 1 case or 6 bottles (Mixed or straight)

The Tamar Ridge Estate Chardonnay is our reflection of the Kayena Vineyard and its cool climate, soils and aspects in the north of the Tamar River.

Tasting Notes

Bright aromatics of white melon and almond meal with vibrant acidity and lemon pith. The new oak component creates a tasty complexity to the finish.

Light straw with a flash of green and aromas of juicy nectarine, fleshy peach and lemon. Hints of clotted cream, nougat, white flowers, stone, vanillin oak, soft spice and almond paste. I like the crunch that the fruit has on the palate, snappy, saline twang and the light crème fraîche tones that follow. The wine slowly retreats – dry, savoury and nicely focused.

The 2024 vintage was a touch warmer that average. The Kayena vineyard had excellent sun exposure and we were able to pick with no pressure from the rain and at the perfect balance and ripeness. The wines that were chosen from barrel were full in flavour while showing complexity and balance.

The natural ferment component is on unsettled, full solids juice. This style of fermentation emphasizes texture, savoury and wild characters as well as enhancing palate richness.
