The rolling hills of Right Bank Bordeaux, blooming lavender fields and sprawling chateaux were the inspirations that led to Brown Brothers Origins Series Merlot. A fruit-forward wine that’s medium in body with lifted aromas of red berries, subtle liquorice and spice.
Try it with a grilled venison steak served with a radish and lemon salad, or aged cheddar cheese and nut bread.
Following harvest, the fruit was crushed and soaked on skins for 2 days, then spent two weeks being fermented at 25°C, and finally matured for 8 months in French oak barrels, of which only 5% was new French oak. The balance was kept in tank to retain the dark berry fruit flavour.
